Cooking, for me, like wine, has been an “acquired taste”. I am not what you would call a natural in the kitchen (like my mother and sister). I have become more confident over the years, though I absolutely need to follow a recipe. Many of the recipes I use have been passed down to me from my mother and grandmother. I also love searching for new recipes in cookbooks, online, and on television.
My fiance loves food, just as much as I do. When we began dating, I realized that I needed to learn how to cook more than just pasta, stir fry, and tacos. Though, he would have been fine living off of those things, I felt embarrassed when he would tell his family that we had eaten pasta for the 3rd time that week. He has been my willing taste-tester over the years, and his honest feedback and support has encouraged me to keep cooking. I cook with love and affection for him…
Adam and I both grew up on the East Coast, but we lived on the West Coast for several years. We recently made another cross-country move from Los Angeles to New York City, and decided to sublet a furnished apartment. The majority of my cooking implements are in our storage unit. I’ve been utilizing what is available to me at our sublet. I have had to learn to be creative with what I have, and the space that is available to me.
Romance is the inspiration for this blog – the art of romancing and wooing my stove to yield delicious creations from my heart; and romancing Adam with some good home cooking. I like to cook when I feel inspired. If I don’t feel like cooking, I don’t, and we go out-to-dinner. I plan to share what I create in the closet-sized kitchen in my New York sublet, maybe some restaurant reviews, a post or two about my cats, and whatever else I feel like!
So sit back and enjoy. Let me know what you think, and I hope that you enjoy yourself here!
