This is my first ever blog! I’m very excited, though a little daunted by the whole experience. I am not a professional writer, nor a photographer, but I am looking forward to showing you what I have created out of love in my tiny kitchen, and I mean TINY! A normal 18×13 baking sheet does not fit in the oven unless the door is left ajar & I have to get creative with the arrangement of pans on the stove top!
Everything seems to take extra effort in New York. Laundry, for example, requires me to haul a giant bag of dirty clothes down 3 flights of stairs, walk 2 1/2 blocks (laundry on a cart) to the laundromat, do the laundry for a couple of hours, and then walk back & hike it up those 3 flights of stairs back to our apartment. Needless to say, I can only manage one of these trips a week! So, just like with laundry, cooking takes an extra effort and a bit of creative finagling with counter space.
It is a wonderful feeling when I can overcome all of the challenges of a small kitchen, lack of proper knives and cooking utensils, and create something beautiful and delicious! Here’s to overcoming challenges!
